Add Email Account On Outlook 2016
Introduction:
In this post, we will illustrate how to add and configure your email account on the Outlook 2016 application, you need to get some info from your email service provider or you can ask us to help in getting this info.
How to manually add an email account in Outlook 2016:
1. Open Windows Control Panel > Mail > Show Profiles > Add then Specify your Profile Name and click OK
2. Choose Manual setup or additional server types radio button and click on Next button.
3. Select POP or IMAP, then click Next.
4. We need to fill the information on the next page
User Information
- Your name: This is what all users will see in their inboxes instead of your email address Enter your name.
- E-mail Address: Enter your full email address. This is made up of the mailbox name you chose, an @ symbol and your domain name. test@andi-tech.com for example.
Server Information
- Account type: Depending on your preferred type of connection, select POP or IMAP from the drop-down menu.
- Incoming mail server: Enter for example smtp.office365.com
- Outgoing mail server (SMTP): Enter for example smtp.office365.com
Note: You should get the mail server info from your email service provider
Login Information
- User Name: Enter your full email address. This made up of the mailbox name you chose, an @ symbol and your domain name.
- Password: Enter the password you set up when you created the mailbox.
- Remember password: Check this box.
- Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA): Leave unchecked.
5. Once you have entered all the information required, click More Settings.
Select Use same settings as my incoming mail server.
6. Click the Advanced tab and enter the following settings:
- Incoming Server:
- 993 for IMAP (preferred) or
- 995 for POP
- Use the following type of encrypted connection: SSL
- Outgoing server: 465
- Use the following type of encrypted connection: SSL
Note: You should confirm the port numbers with your email service provider.
7. Click OK, then Next and Outlook will test the connection.
When the test is complete click Close, and then click Finish to close the wizard. Outlook 2016 is now configured to send and receive email through your mailbox.
How to add Microsoft email account in Outlook 2016 automatically:
Microsoft email accounts (Office 365 and Exchange email accounts) can be added automatically using the autodiscover feature.
1. Open Windows Control Panel > Mail > Show Profiles > Add then Specify your Profile Name and click OK
2. On the Auto Account Setup page type your name, primary email address, and your mailbox password twice, then click Next.
3. Outlook 2016 will start configuring your account. When you get a security prompt, check the box Don’t ask me about this website again and then click Allow.
4. Windows Security window might then prompt your username and password. Enter your primary email address in the Username box and type your mailbox password and click OK.
5. Outlook 2016 will discover your email server settings and finish the configuration of your email account. Once you see all the steps as completed, you can click Finish. Now you can open your new profile in Outlook 2016.
